Can't get standard resolution on S3. Can only get 1024x768.

My laptop did some kind of file check or rebuild of some files when I switched it on this morning. Not 100% sure what, but some kind of consistency check. This took about 10 minutes and the laptop booted up as normal. Except that the screen resolution now won't go any higher than 1024x768.

Have the drivers been deleted somehow? When I go to control panel/displays, the highest resolution is 1024x768. If it's a driver issue, how do I find out exactly which drivers to download?

Looked on the Acer site and found video drivers, but am not 100% certain what model my machine is. Bought it via Amazon warehouse. It's just listed as an S3 ultrabook.

Her's the spec if that helps:

Your model number indicates that you have: Acer Aspire S3-951-2464G24iss

From the download site, select Ultra-thin > Aspire > Aspire S3-951

Driver: VGA, Intel, VGA Driver, 8.15.10.2476

Thanks... managed to sort it in the end. Tried deleting and installing the driver which didn't work. I kept seeing an error in the device manager 'Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware. (Code 37)'.

After some more googling I found and tried this

'Then at the C prompt, type "sfc /scannow" '

After scan and automatic repairs, rebooted and all is good.
