Yesterday Acer released BIOS 1.12 and UEFI BIOS 2.12! I successfully updated from 1.11 to 1.12!
After that I tried to flash the UEFI BIOS 2.12. But this won´t work ... error: Please update to the same type of BIOS(V1.xx)!
Any ideas???
My machine: Acer V3 771G, i5 3210M, GT650M, Windows 8

Good day
The bios will work within machines that came preloaded with Windows 8 from factory

I'm interested in this as well. I dont understand why it wouldnt work as all of the 771G's are basically the same. Can someone from tech support comment on this?

You can install windows 8, but it cant take advantage of the advanced features that UEFI have. such as faster bootups. wish the tech staff would reply to this thread....

Perhaps we can "force" update with changing options in "param.ini" of the archive ? (it can be open with winrar ...)
Tech staff can confirm ?

I just dont understand why they wouldn let this install over a non UEFI bios. They say its only for windows 8? Windows 7 x64 can install in UEFI mode so that explanation doesnt fly with me. I cant believe this post has been here this long and the tech support staff havent at least commented on it...REALLY?

To address the BIOS related question:
Systems that shipped with Windows 7 are to use the v1.xx BIOS.
Systems that shipped with Windows 8 are to use the v2.xx UEFI.
They are not designed to cross one version to the other, neither up nor down.

@Acer-Tommy But what if my laptop was shipped with Linux? My V3-771G came with Linux Linpus and in the drivers section I have both Windows 7 and Windows 8 as options?
