This OS is Windows 8 and the touchpad device in this laptop is ALPS, Version 8.100.2020.116.  plugged into PS/2 mouse port

i checked through my control panel and it says this device is working fine and does not need to be updated. i also attempted to reinstall the driver through Acer Recovery Management but it did not work
