Aspire One725 - Pointer likes to move/click on it's own while typing

When I am typing (in any program), the pointer likes to just click wherever it happens to be sitting, thus inserting my typing there instead of where I was typing. It has nothing to do with the "tap to click" or any sort of touching of the touch pad (I have been conciously holding my hands WAY above the touchpad while typing this and it has still done it twice in the last 3 lines of type) and i can't seem to find any other mouse settings that seem like they would fit the problem.

Any suggestions on what settings might correct this? My old Acer laptop did this exact same thing when I first got it and I was able to fix it but that was years ago and I can't recall how. That one had the horrid Windows ME and I had thought it was just that but apparently not Smiley Sad

Thank you!

Have you attempted to turn the touchpad off while you are typing?

Inadvertant touches on the touchpad could certainly move the cursor or even register as taps.

I have, as most of the time I have the touch pad disabled when I have my mouse plugged in, and I have tried 3 different ones of thoese (one wired, 2 wireless) all with the same results.

    We do have one article:

Why does the cursor jump around or randomly activate items in Windows 7?

If the remedies there do not resolve the issue for you, you may need to contact your local Acer service center.
