Greetings everyone,

My Acer Aspire M5-581T is totally crashed.  Tried to update to Win 8.1 and the store app would not work.  I eventually refreshed the computer, no luck.  Then restored from backup--this is when this happened:

1st Screen:

Pc has ran into trouble starting, it will restart...we are logging information...

*it then restarts again and loads 2nd screen below.

2nd Screen:

Recovery

Your PC could not start properly.  After multiple tries, the operating system.....

Error code: 0xc0000001

Press the following keys:

Enter to try again

f8 for startup Settings

Esc For UEFI

The keyboard commands will not work.  I have tried multiple .iso files to get the computer to reboot to the recovery partition or disk, but they won't work.  I can not find a way to by-pass to get to BIOS.  Can't get windows to load to make computer restart with UEFI (BIOS) options.

Please help.

Thank you,

Chris F

You should be able to press and hold the power button to completely power the system OFF.

Then restart the system and proceed into UEFI as normal, with F2.

If you are completely unable to get this process to work, you can certainly contact your local Acer service center for assistance.

That would not work....I suspect there was a system malfunction.  Maybe a motherboard.   My battery was acting strange and would not charge.  Then the system cut off on its own a few times when runing on battery.  A/C worked fine.  Also, my Wi Fi Adapter would act strange.  It would act as if it was missing, would restart and then it would appear.

I mailed the system to a repair center on Tuesday.  Will post an update when I hear something.

I wish that the other issues had been included in the first post.

That definately sounds like some hardware problems.

Hope that the service corrects everything for you quickly.

I did not put all the pieces together until after I posted....I am not sure the Wireless Adapter was a hardware issue.  There is a fix someplace for wireless adapters in Windows 8.  Not only Acer computers, but many brands having adapter issues.  I bascially gave up at trying to fix Windows 8 and and tried to update, hoping the update would solve the strange behavior and anything else.

I will gladly post an update as there appears to to bits and pieces of of my issues scattered in the boards. All ending in repairs.  Likely a faulty part.  Will say I am please with the ease of the repair process.  Diappointed my first acer computer failed. Regretted not buying my normal Dell.  Especially now. Smiley Sad
