I have the Brightness contorl set at the lowest setting but when I go to read I can see the brightness going to from low to very bright, almost so bright that it is hard to read especially at night. Is there another setting for the brightness while in the reading mode? The brightness seems to fine when using the internet and other functions of the tablet. Appreciate any help!

That sounds very much like an app setting.

Adjust the brightness from within the app that you are using.

Thanks, Tommy for responding back to my comment. Quite by accident I came across my solution. The problem with the brightness occurred whenever I opened the book I was reading, otherwise the birghtness for internet use was fine. A couple days ago I opened the book I'm reading and noticed a small light gray dot at the far right side of the control bar underneath the screen. When I touched it, a box opened that showed date, time and several other settings like Airplane Mode but it also included a brightness bar! It was set at mid range. I went back to Settings and checked the Brightness and I had it as low as it would go. I think this control that I came across must be something seperate from the control in Settings because it had not changed when I adjusted the control in Settings.  However it all came about, I now have the brightness of the screen while I'm reading much lower, as low it will go and with normal room light I'm able to read just fine. And no more eye strain from a too bright of a screen!!!   Thanks again for being so available to answer questions,  Chris
