I purchased Acer Aspire 5472 with Windows 7 but want to install XP professional as some of my software dont work on Win7. My win 7 is 64 Bit machine and I am able to install Visa.
But when I try to install XP I get the error STOP 0X00000007B error which is likely to be the issue related to the hard drive driver.
With SIND number, I cant find the hard drive driver although I can see that there is SATA ACHI controller driver but that is only for Win7.
What can be a solution? Where can I get the driver for the hard drive?
Thanks for your help.

When you power on the notebook press F2 and enter the BIOS.
In the BIOS menu you will see an option to change the HDD controller from AHCI (SATA) to IDE.
Change it to IDE, save and exit the BIOS, install your Windows XP.
The problem is because your Windows XP disc does not have SATA drivers and so causes the 7B error.
To be honest the change from SATA to IDE within the BIOS makes virtually zero difference to speed anyways so all is good !
Have fun and enjoy ! ![]()
