Attempt to adjust the brightness and contrast of the monitor. There should be instructions in your User's Guide.

Thanks. The right arrow key plus function key improved it. however the function key plus F6 only produces a black screen.

model is acer aspire 5517 laptop.

Good day

The Fn+F6 will produce a black screen. Its a safety feature to quickly "close" what you are doing for incase someone just rocks in your office univited.
