Your i5 DOESNT throttle as low as an i3...BUT....your gpu is throttling much lower than the i3's gpu due to the i5 cpu throttle.

Exactly what suzook said, the problem is the down clock of the gpu when throttling not cpu only.

ACER, are you still reading ? We (users) wants to enjoy the full i5 CPU/GPU.
You must understand that we won't buy another ACER tablet product if we knows such issue isn't solved.
We'll move to SAMSUNG or ASUS...

Or Microsoft.

Stop posting misleading posts saying that the i3 outperforms the i5... there are two diffrent i3 and the one in europe does not have intel hd 4000 so its just comfusing if you compare to the i3 with the hd 4000...
and... do you guys really think that as soon as the i5 opens a program it throttles?? No... the i5 only throttles while gaming,or a very heavy program... The i3 might win when it comes to the point where the i5 turbo boosts, then throttles,,, but between that, the i5 is better...
oh and...Acer does not care... this is a peer to peer forum...has anyone of you guys that are complaining so much even made a phone call to talk to them personally?

I notice that when reading reviews that the i5 W700 seems to perform about the same as other manufacturers i5's. I really think that this is an intel or ms issue.

More of a maker issue Happyboy, should they unlock the bios it would be easily solved, they just needed to put on of those bios warnings about making changes might make this tablet into a expensive paper weight, or something along those lines ^^.

So then why would Acer only make the i5 throttle due to temperatures? Why wouldn't the i3 also throttle? I imagine the GPU would manage to get to the same temps, if not higher if it isn't throttling.

i5 works differently...it has a turbo mode, which can be controlled, and is tied to the hd4000 video..ie throttling. i3 no turbo/throttle.

Why is it that only chips with turbo allow for this?
Does the i3 indeed reach higher temps?
