Hi guys. Since I am not an expert I read that throttling is a safety feature to protect our tablets from overheating am I right? So why would you want to override it? Wouldn't that be dangerous?

Nope! It is not a safety feature! It is the newest way ACER found to piss the users of its products! The CPU su rated to work up to 105C and with the current config, the CPU goes to 6xC so we are Veeeeeeeeeeery far away from the danger zone!

seems to me acer have done this pump as much battery life from the device as possible which is why most have brought it.
we will solve this eventually with or without acers help

gpgalanis and OrionBG are both half correct. Although the CPU technically is rated up to 105c, it is not recommended to run it at a constant 80c+ even for the desktop counterpart where its heat won't affect other parts of the computer. The 105 is the ABSOLUTE max before the Ivy begins to throttle, but not really where it is safe or ideal as it will definitely shorten the life of the processor.
For tablets and ultrabooks where all components are tucked next to one another, the prolong heat will not be good for the computer as a whole, especially the battery. So I could understand as to why Acer set the mechanism to control the cpu's power usage and temp.
HOWEVER as OrionBG has pointed out, there probably isn't a need to set the TDP so low at 10w as we likely would be able to operate at a safe range even at a higher TDP. Hopefully Acer and its engineers would start looking into this request by the community and give us a bit more headroom so we won't feel less adequate when compared to the likes of Samsung and Microsoft.

Hello, ACER!
I want to buy w700p-6821 device, it's cool. But with i5 0.8Ghz in Turbo Boost mode, 10 000 uah - it is not these money, which costs this product.
In which models you will fix i5 problem? How long we must wait for NORMAL i5 w700 device?
Say me, please, if this bug will not fixed. I'll go and buy surface pro or samsung ativ pro.

the maker of throttlestop has said if someone can run msr finder with and without the max performance feature enabled on the samsung 700t he would be able to say if he can replicate the same process on the w700 bypassing the clamping.
can someone with a 700t help?
details are on tablet pc review forum under the acer section.

Hopefuly they will have the changes in this update. Acer need to change this if they want to compete with the surface pro.
The new Tomb Raider works btw
lowest settings and 720p. If they fix this issue I can play it on medium settings 1080p ![]()
