Throttling appears while gaming or benchmarking here. @all: what are your idle temps?
Keeping in in performance mode and setting minimum processor speed 100% while docked so it is constantly at 2400~2600, Core Temp is showing idle temp of low to mid 40s

I'm experiencing some throttling, too. I never really noticed, though, since I prefer to keep it in power saving mode most of the time.
I haven't experienced a single WIFI issue since updating the driver (which I did immediately after I opened it [downloading it on another computer and using a flash drive made this easy]).
However, I can run Intel Burn Test at maximum for well over a minute, and the CPU clock (according to Windows task manager) never drops below 1.9ghz. My temps max out around 65C (according to speccy). I haven't looked into the GPU clocks, yet.
I can say that it's not really bothering me, as I only play Portal and Half Life on it; but it is disheartening in a way; underatandable in another.
From Acer's perspective, it's probably working as intended, which is why it scored better than most tablets in battery life and heat in many rundowns, and lost some on GPU and CPU tests (though I recall seeing one where it did quite well in CPU tests). However, I can understand the frustration from end users like you all who were looking forward to the sustained performance of the i5.
I would like to see a BIOS revision made where enthusiasts can remove this throttling setting. Most normal users wouldn't know to change it, and power users would be able to at their own risk. Acer could make some schpiel about it voiding the warranty, and we can all move on happy.

I think that is certainly the hope of most of those who are power users in this forum.
Today trying to see if I could make it throttle during normal usage outside of IBT, with the various programs riding the CPU hard (80~90 percent usage), while never reaching 70c, I did notice that Turbo slowed a bit as the temperature rose. Instead of staying at 2400~2600 range, it started to drop to 1900~2000 as the CPU warmed from sustained processing. This is likely not an accident or oversight, as I agree that this is probably a measure used by Acer to keep the tablet's power usage as well as temperature under control.
Hopefully there will be a future BIOS that will allow the removal of this limit, and truely allow this i5 tablet to run its i5 speed...

Interesting article explain why our ULV CPU drops from Turbo Boost while gaming.
It makes perfect senese, at least explains the throttling while gaming. However, I don't understand is how one of the forums members i3 version has achieved higher 3DMark score than the i5.

Ive read the article and like assumed previously acer could and should enable tdp tweaking for power users, cause for the regular user it doesnt pay off to have the i5 instead of the i3 ivy cause the difference in the long run performance isn that noticeable, ofc we cant forge about more sdd ^^.
Still gr8 article, from what i can tell ill def get another tablet, the w700 isnt for me, ill wait a few more months (again) for the improved ivy bridge processor tablets.

The issue with the i5 throttling affects the gpu to throttle also, thats how an i3 can outperform the i5.

I'm not seeing my i5 throttle to i3 levels, though. It throttles, but not to 1.7ghz.
