Dual monitor color calibration S230HL & X223W

I was quite happy with my ACR X223W, so I went ahead and bought another Acer monitor (S230HL) for my dual monitor setup.

Having installed drivers and respective color profiles for each monitor, I am having trouble calibrating the monitors to get an even transition between the two screens. In short: The X223W is far darker than the S230HL. It is not capable of obtaining the same strong contrast as the S230HL.

What would be the exact procedure for calibrating two Acer monitors for an even result? I have tried OSD menu settings, Win7 color calibration as well as adjusting desktop settings for my display adapter (ATI Radeon HD4250).

Thank you.

It looks like the X223W has a brightness of 300 cd/m2 and the S230HL has a brightness of 250 cd/m2, so one is brighter than the other. Another difference between the two is the X223W is an LCD monitor and the S230HL is an LED monitor, so you will have to work it a bit to probably achieve what you are trying to get them to.
