Does the Acer Aspire 4736z use DDR2 memory or DDR3 memory?

This website says DDR3:

So I bought DDR3 online to upgrade it from 3 GB to 8 GB.  But the memory does not fit!  What gives Acer?

    Feldms,

Please check whether the operating system is 64 or 32 bit. If it is 64 bit then you need to change the memory.

    Thank you.

It is a 64 bit processor.  Why does Acer's website say DDR3?

It is DDR3. PC3-10600 or 8500. Crucial says your model maxes out at 4GB. Maybe if you use the system scanner it will say something else you could try it.

I looked at the memory in my computer and it is 200 pin DDR2, not 204 pin DDR3.  I wish Acer would put the correct information on their website before I spent $30 on RAM.

The highest speed 200 pin laptop RAM is PC2-6400. The other option is PC2-5300.
