Hi Cory

I tried eRcovery about 5 years ago not long after I bought the machine, when I had continuous problems with the installation and it didn't work. I was told it doesn't always and there was no guarantee that it would. I sent the laptop back to be sorted out and when I got it back Vista was installed properly again, but no recovery partition.
At that time I asked about installation discs but was told I'd have to pay for them which is not right or fair to have to.
Now, I have Windows 7 on but it seems odd that there is no support for software that I paid for when I bought the laptop.
Never mind I have got a 3rd party solution that seems reliable enough it's juts a shame Acer can't better support the machines it sells.

POT player is the only reliable one for playing Blu Ray, but I wamnetd the original player. I'm not paying for original discs though. I see that as a cynical fleecing of customers by Acer.
I'll manage with what I have but I appreciat your time to help.

I have had the Acer Aspire 8930g from new about 5 years and have recently had to reinstall the software. I got most of the drivers o put back in but I can't find the blu ray software on the support site, so I can't use my blu ray player at the moment.

Does anyone know where I can find it?

Thanks for that, but those aren't the specifications of my Aspire 8930g. My oricessor is Core 2 Duo T6400, 2 ghz, 800mhz fsb, 2mb L2 cache. It alos states 4 gig of DDR3 memory.

However as I said, a scanner shows 4 gig of only DDR2 memory, so my question was, woud upgrading the memory make a difference, given that that has always been a very slow machine?

Despite the sticker on my Aspire 8930g saying DDR3 memory, a scanner from Crucial says it's only DDR2. Will upgrading to DDR3 make much difference?
Since I bought this machine a few years ago it's been really slow, I can barely run Lightroom. Has anyone found a way to improve performance on it?
I'm running Windows 7 home.

Does acer make a 12 volt powered computer, or one that has a low power consumption?

I need to either run a 12 volt computer, or one that draws little power as it will be used through an inverter.
At present I have an Aspire 8930g which has a depressingly poor performance, although it only draws a maximum of 7 amps when run through the inverter.

The screen is really bad for editing photos so I'd ideally like maybe a mini pc, with loads of RAM and great video card that doesn't use any more than this laptop, and can run 64 bit Windows 7.
Can anyone help?
