Are you aware of the memory restrictions in Windows?

My response, from Acer, to my problem is that the CPU is a controlling factor. If you have a single core processor you can only use 1 line. I presume that means a colour, of which I have both blue(primary) and yellow(secondary).

Besides Laurent_14's response. There appear to be some other limitations.

Firstly Windows has it's own limitation, i.e. Windows 7(32 bit) will only use 4Gb.

Secondly if you only have a single core processor Acer support say you can only use 1 line, whatever one line is. Ther are two different colours on my M5100 and I am hoping that they mean 1 colour and thus 2 slots.

I have just asked Acer support why I cannot use all four lines of memory. I know that Windows 7(32-bit) can only use 4Gb.

Their response was that unless you have a dual core processor you cannot use the other lines.

If you register your product with them you can ask about your own system.Mine is a M5100(Extensa E210)
