Don't ever give this advice except as a last resort

Minor problem with a popup at bootup asking me to update Acer apps. When I tried, it said all apps were up to date.

Slightly annoying but very minor and I didn't think it should happen on a new machine.

Acer chat suggested way to clear was to "refresh" Windows, which I did. Apparently that wasn't just a "refresh" but it deleted everything on the harddrive and then reinstalled the operating system. I lost addresses, programs and personal data. it took almost all day to get my computer working somewhat normally and I'm still missing programs and files brought over from my old computer. Worst help I ever received for such an insignificant problem. Never again.
