Hi,

I am very interested to know if the problem is resolved as I am intending to get this model soon.

I have always avoided purchasing Acer due to my past experience. My experiece with a faulty laptop was almost 5 years ago and I wish to know if such issue has been resolved within Acer's design and engineering team.

The model which I purchased automatically shuts down by itself, causing all my assignments to be erased. The frequency is high however it will reduce slightly once i have better cooling. Unfortunately the unit which I purchased in Asia, was brought to the UK for my studies during that time, and I did not have the convenience or time to seek international warranty claims. It was later when i returned to Malaysia, right after the warranty period my over, I discovered Acer had a problem with the cooling that is causing the shutdown. They demanded I pay for a full motherboard replacement approximately 100 pounds. Which I didn't as I would rather use the money for another new laptop.

My point is once you have discovered such shut down issue, I strongly advice to demand for replacement for a same model or refund entirely before your return policy/warranty ends. Reason being is simple, a laptop should not have such issue. Even if it is a power cable issue, static or what soever, it should be a complete recall on the models and not merely fixing it by technicians, as it is no better than a trial and error by technicians until your period runs out you'll have the same regret as me.

I hope i did not miss another thread which has identified the issue, if so please share with me.

Thank you.

Ben
