i've removed the wireless drivers and now reinstalling, lets see how it goes.

In the meantime the option of a recovery are of the window as they don't appear to have one, was the 6930G an XP or Vista laptop or did it come with Win 7. I've got a feeling they have messed around with it and installed a fresh copy of windows although some acer programs are there.

I will have to do a magic jelly bean job on the licence and reinstall windows 7 myself from scratch if wireless option does'nt work.

Let me try and explain again I don't think I explained the issue properly, wifi was working absolutely fine no issues at all. This is not my laptop I am fixing for my daughters friend, I am an IT professional and completely stumped. But as you know sometimes you miss things even if you are a pro.

I updated to the latest bios as on the acer support page, once the laptop rebooted the wifi light did not turn on and when you goto wireless connections it is showing none available. If you goto networks connections to see what hardware there is, you can see the wirless adapter is there and its showing as on.

There must be a link between what makes the light for the wireless on the laptop be off and no wireless connections being found.

I've found an old USB wireless adapter, and installed the drivers which makes wireless works fine.

Hope that helps explain myself a bit better?

I was updating and cleaning up everything I could on this laptop so assist the user, I started with the bios.
After the laptop restarted the wifi light didn't come on and I can't work out how to get it on (there is no switch or button, not that I can see)
The drivers must work as in network connections you can see the device and it says no wireless connections available.

Any help would be much appreciated.
