What laptop do you have?

Funny.... I don't have 'slow connection' issues, but in Chrome and Opera, I seem to have touchpad issues with two fingers scrolling, but it works fine in firefox and IE. Wonder what makes Chrome and Opera different.

So your laptop won't turn on at all? That's very unfortunate, but makes me wonder what could be a problem. I've got mine V7 582P month ago and it's working since early morning hours til late night hours almost every day without single hesitation. Moreover I know couple people who's had this machine for few months without any problems, too. Seems like you're extremely unlucky if you ran into faulty V7, but it happens.

As for the customer service he's right. I don't know any company who'd give you brand new laptop right away. At least over here rules are they take it for repair and you can only get new machine or money back if you had the same failure happen 3 times in a row (or 4 diff issues). It's not really just Acer, but any other brand. That's how warranty works over here and I guess it's same everywhere. Only exception could be Dell, Dell's 'next business day' service sounds good, but I've heard stories how they actually take more time than it's advertised or funny stories about losing warranty by installing VLC media player and so on. So it's surely up to you, but Acer doesn't seem any worse than anyone else out there. Actually I've been more disappointed with Lenovo and Dell lately.

Re: Acer V7 touchpad gestures

Thanks, but as I said I don't have ELAN touchpad, but ALPS. Plus I tried the exact instructions, went through control panel and at the end finally found settings for ALPS touchpad gestures, but I could only change 'zoom in' option and even after I changed it, Chrome and Opera still didn't work and when scrolling with two fingers it'd go crazy. Only browsers that work for me are IE and Firefox, but Firefox has another issue - doesn't support 1920x1080 resolution. Don't know why, but it looks awful. I didn't find edge gestures so I didnt adjust that, but it doesn't bother me that much. Either way I guess I'm gonna use wireless mouse instead. Touchpad isn't bad, but it seems browsers like Chrome doesn't work well with it, so it's either touchscreen or wireless mouse. Thanks for your answer anyway. I wish I could find out why two fingers scrolling goes crazy in Chrome and Opera, but works well e.g. in PDF files and other browsers I mentioned.

Acer V7 touchpad gestures

Hi there,

I need your help with my Acer V7 582P 54204G50tkk, OS win 8.1 64bit.

I'm overall happy with V7 laptop, but touchpad is not working the way I'd like it to. I have very hard time scrolling with two fingers - it's almost impossible because due to multitouch gestures it usually zooms in instead of scrolling the page. It also bothers me when I move around on touchpad edge gestures often bring up windows search menu from the right edge etc. ALL IN ALL I need your help with disabling multitouch gestures, because I'm conviced it would solve most of my issues with touchpad. I checked out I have installed ALPS pointing device, but I'm missing an option to adjust gestures. I saw it should look like this http://www.eightforums.com/attachments/drivers-hardware/9967d1351286973-windows-8-alps-touchpad-driver-alps.png but obviously I have newer driver on my laptop and there's no such option. Can you help me guys? What can I do?
