Hi
Actually I am gonna boot ubuntu live-USB to check the limits of each slot or try using Windows powershell to check if its possible to see the limits there

With Ubuntu I was able to check the RAM limits from the netbook, and it has 2 slots, but only one of them was usable since the other one does not have brackets to hold RAM module

Tks

Hi

I was able to put 8GB on a single slot by putting my netbook RAM module here
Acer says each slot would limit to 4GB but here it went fine

Tks

Hello fellas

I have a doubt about RAM upgrade for the E1-421

I have the E1-421-0-BR899 (brazilian version) here, it has 4GB of RAM, 320GB HDD and E1-1200 (1.4 GHz) processor

I upgraded my HDD to a 1TB hybrid and removed the slim DVD and replaced with a HDD SATA caddy (750GB HDD)

But I got a doubt about RAM upgrade here

Acer says it can handle up to 8GB (2 x 4GB) RAM here, but does anyone know this is the real limit ? I know brands use to say this as a "safe" limit, since I also have an Acer netbook here (AO722) that has an official 4GB limit, but I searched forums when I bought it and people could use a 8GB memory with no problem, and I bought a 8GB memory to use there, and it worked really fine

So... is it possible to use 16GB (2 x 8GB) with this notebook ? The only problem here is the RAM issue, since its pretty much fast even with the bunch of stuff I install and the number of HDDs I use with my USB 3.0 hub ehehehe

Tks !

Hi

Actually I could manage to make this work here

I changed power management settings to USB devices inside W 8.1 with some regedit tweaks

But I hope those workarounds realy keep working

And yes, I upgrade the device to 8GB the same week I bought the netbook

And I do not have the W7 partition since I chnaged the HDD to a 750GB hybrid

Tks

Hello there

I am using this netbook as my main machine for some months since my other notebook does not work anymore

And sometimes USB powered hubs stop working from nothing

I have 2 USB hubs attached to the machine
Main Hub, its an USB 3.0 model that works with USB 2.0)
3 externally powered HDDs (all 3,5' HDDs with external power)
1 slim DVDRW
1 audio control unit (not MIDI, but guitar recording)
1 external wireless dongle (internal wifi has poor signal)

and sometimes I use my backup external HDD with it

The other hub:
Mouse

External keyboard
Cooler(fan)base
Wacom tablet (bamboo model)
And 2 spare ports to use with pendrive

I know there is a lot of things connected to a netbook, but since the main "power eating" devices (external 3.5' HDDs) are connected to external supplies, why the USB stops working out of nothing ?

Is this something BIOS related or can be a faulty mobo ?

Here I use Windows 8.1 and I have been with this issues since Windows 8, since when I had Windows 7 installed I did not use this machine with the hubs.

Any ideas about what I can do ?

Tks !
