Just to give everyone on here an update.

I created a USB recovery flash drive (with a windows PC) as mentioned in my previous post. I followed the instructions from those pages and reinstalled the OS and had to set up my Chromebook again. I am typing this on my Chromebook C710 as we speak. So, creating a USB recovery flash drive worked for me. A couple of things to remember.

1. When you do this, you will lose all of your stored internal data! this resets the Chromebook to its factory defaults. So be prepare to re-add all of your apps and such. (Correction...all of mine synced back up fine.)

2. Be sure to have a network connection otherwise you will not be able to complete the setup (happened to me).

I can say, for now...so far so good. Should anything happen, I will keep everyone here posted.

Here are the links to create the USB recovery drive and the instructions.

http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/27646

Here is the link to create the USB recovery drive:

http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/27637

Hope this helps!

Correction: After a reboot, all of my downloaded apps were synced correctly. no need to re download.

I called Customer Service about this issue this morning. Here is the number I called.

1-866-695-2237 (US number)

I only waiting on hold for about 5 minutes and the customer service tech sent me this link to address the flashing Chrome issue.

http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/27646

Here is the link to create the USB recovery drive:

http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/27637

Please note, you will have to have your Acer model number to create the USB recovery drive.

The instructions and recovery USB drive worked for me. Will give more details when set up is complete.

Sorry for the multiple posting to different threads. I saw this being listed a number of times and thought I would share the information I was given.

You will have to create one with another computer (Windows, Linux, etc.) To create one, you have to make sure you have a USB flash drive (or SD card) that is at least 4GB. Also, you should make sure nothing is on the drive you will use as it is going to be reformatted.

I think the posted the link in a previous message.

If you are using windows, save the .exe file to your USB drive and just double click the link. The reinstall process takes about 10 minutes to do.

I just tried the USB recovery and that has seemed to allow it to boot back up. I am at work and have not gone through the new set up as i do not have a wireless connection here.

The video on this page clearly says, breaking the seal on the sticker over the screw will NOT void the warranty. If this USB recover does not work, I am willing to try this method as a last resort, but I can see a huge issue if this does not work and i want to try to send it in for repair. So, will removing or breaking the seal void the warranty or not?

For all of us having this issue (all seemingly at the same time), i would like to think a patch or fix is being worked on as this as certainly left me pretty displeased. I am fortunate enough that I had very little on the internal hard drive (saved most to Google Drive), but I feel bad for others that may not have done so.

I just had the same thing happen to mine today, but I have had it for a few months. This seems to be a common theme with the Acer 710 and the newest Chrome update (based on what I have been reading).

I did the USB recovery and it is booting up now. I lost all of my personal data, but luckily I save just about everything to Google Drive and nothing important locally.

Here is the link customer service sent me:

http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/27646

Can we get an official answer or repsonse from Acer on this problem?
