unable to contact acer live chat serial number and snid not valid

Okay so i have got a new ssd hard drive for my acer laptop and after talks with windows about how to do fresh install of my oem windows pre install they told me acer are the people i need to carry on my questions to with regards to the issue. Lo and behold i come to the support section and my snid and serial number are claimed by acer chat login to be invalid. Now, iv registered my laptop around time of purchase and have only had the laptop a maximum of 3-4 months i refuse to believe my product is not valid for support from acer and would like to know how acer plans to allow me to have a live chat session with a support person to fix the stupid issue of not being able to upgrade a new hard drive into the laptop without significant issues egarding the installation of fresh operating systems etc.

i hope to hear back from acer as soon as possible as this is getting beyond frustrating to be told i have an invalid serial on a device thats no where near a year old yet

thanks

Hey paul it is totally possible to get windows 8 off the machine, i am currently waiting for a response to my question on forums regarding the reinstallation of windows 8 to an MBR format of the HDD as opposed to its initial GPT partition format that the aspires come as pre loaded, if windows 8 can be installed on an MBR formatted hard drive then that means both linux and windows can coexist as a dual boot ver comfortably, as it is in uefi it is all gurrently GPT format har drive which is not great tbh. BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING< USE ACER RECOVERY MANAGEMENT to make a 16 gb usb back up restore and what not to make sure if worst comes to worst you can wipe the computer back to default windows 8 as i had ubuntu booted from a livecd the other day and battery life on a 100 percent charge was reading in at 2 hours so until i can find he necessary information online regarding maximixing power and performance i am in the air about what os to use. put it this way ubuntu will be a lot less optimized for your laptop than windows 8 is out of the box, whther it can be tweaked and configured to be as good as windows for power management etc yets for me to find out. if you would like to chat about your options regarding this then please send me a pm and we can set up a chat in irc or over a messenger or something as it would be nice to compare notes with some one on the same machine and mission as myself.

hope this helped. also here are some useful links, BUT please do not install ubuntu untill it is confirmed we can do so without voiding the warranty and stuff because i dunno if its worth it yet plus if you can get it to dual boot you can erase ubuntu shud anything go wrong and warranty shud be fine that way.

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UEFI

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UEFIBooting

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Grub2/Installing

these are just some of the things you need to be aware of when thinking of installing linux to a windows prestalled machine. also nvidia linux driver for the gt630m card can be found

here:http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux-display-amd64-295.53-driver.html if ur machine is the same as mine and came with the 1gb graphic card.

My question is if i reformat the hard drive will i be able to reinstall the preinstalled windows 8 from the bios the same way i would if leaving the hard drive in its current GPT format.

Also is this in any way covered in the warranty as a violation of warranty as I would very much hope I am allowed to use my machine how i want so long as it is not detrimental by default to the machine.

Any feedback or knowledge on this situation would be greatly appreciated as its not clearly covered in any online materials if i can just

A) convert my hdd as it is to MBR format without losing data and needing to reinstall windows or

B) whether any of this is going to invalidate my warranty with acer. any help appreciated
