What do I do If tightning the screws does not work??

The battery charges just fine, the problem is when I try to turn it on it goes into the forever on for five secs then off and it repeats this until the battery drains.

Holding in the power button won't stop the on - offs or shut it down. And, doing the battery reset while its doing the on - offs doesn't shut it down either!!!

There seems to be enough of us complaing about this without any resolution to warrant asome attention here. This looks to be a manufacturing flaw that ACER SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR AT THIS POINT>

Next post will signify I am contacting the better business burough and getting a petition signed. We bought this device trusting you would properly support it. I am out a $1000 plus my college project work, and all my work files and programs. This isn't right. ACER at one time had the single best customer support out there, now it seems you all don't care about loyal customers???

Hi all,

I have an R7-571 that is having power issues. First it would not charge at all, the power light would did not light up at all. I tried a power reset sever times to no avail. When I got it home and plugged it in it charged. I was so releived until I turned it on (waited till the power indicater went blue for a full charge). When I poiwered it on the problems really began. It comes on for about 5 seconds and then shuts down, then comes on and then shuts down repeatedly all night until the battery drained. The screen nor the keyboard ever came on at all.

This morning I decided to take out the battery like I would on a normal laptop and just use the power supply. No go! This laptop will not power on at all without a battery???

Any help or advice here would be apreciated, all my college projects on the hard drive and now I have no access, not to mention I also use this for work. Can anyone help??

Please

M<att

Guess who is back

The power reset worked twice. Today when I plugged in the power cable no light came on, the screen stays dimmed. Nothing I am trying is working.

The laptop ran for about 3 hours before the battery has died, now what do I do? I can not use it at all. If this is a battery problem, can I bypass like a regular laptop by removing the battery and just using the plug to see if that id the problem. I bought a ubiversal power supply and that did not do anything either.........

If anyone can help me I would be greatly aprreciative.

This is the first ever laptop I was willing to buy in my 25+ year IT career, I am an IT pro and never wanted to throw my money away on a laptop. I realy liked the design so I took a chance. I am very disapointed in ACer right now. To give up my age a bit, I have a DX2/66 Acer tyower at home that is over 20 years old and I still have NT 4 running it as a file server just for fun. ACER once made great products, What Happened???

Thanks

Matt

Hi all,

Thank you very much for having this on the forum. I unplugged my Aspire R7, when I got back to the office and plugged it in the power cable was not working.

Since I use this for both school and work, I was in complete panic because today is friday and my laptop would be out of commission till next week.

I searched and found this article and it worked. I would never have even thought to look for a battery reset.

My one and only question is, Is this an indication that something is failing? Battery, Power cord or something else?

Thanks

Matt

Aspire R7 hardware failing

Okay, I fell in love with and purchased the Aspire R7. Now, let me give you some background. I am 47, am a Senior Network Administrator/Engineer and have never purchased my own laptop. The Aspire R7 was and is the perfect laptop for a tech junkie like me.

My loyalty with Acer goes back 20 years or so, I still have a DX2/66 Tower running NT 4.0 server as a file server. That tower is the best PC on the planet, still. I have been purchasing acer monitors since their returnin 05-06, I have put thousands of Acer monitors on my users desktops. I just did a dual install of Acer 27" touch screens at a dental office with just built out, a long with about 25 22" acer lcd's.

Acer has never let me down until now and I am at a loss. My hard drive is failing in my Aspire R7, checkdisk is repairing errors everyday. I have tried twice with Acer's tech support only to be told, "sure we'll get you a new one out, but we have to hold a few hundred dollars of your money hostage because we don't trust you".

My heart is broken, my loyalty meant nothing to them. about 8 of my fellow classmates have bought the Aspire R& because they saw mine and I raved over it. I look like a complete fool.

Thank you Acer, I know how important loyal business customers are to you now.
