Thanks a lot,

If you have a look at this screen shot below of mine, you will see that I really have went to the official Acer website, and then I have entered my product model name, and looked for all the drivers and software for Windows 7(64Bit), but no Audio drivers were listed. If there were any drivers for my product model, then they would had been listed.

Should I use the Audio drivers listed while looking for Windows visita(64Bit) drivers?

With regard to Hardware Vendor utility, if you mean with this utility the one below, I would say yes I have tired it, but it didn't detect any drivers for Audio.

Hi everyone!

When I really installed Windows 7(64Bit), on my Acer laptop, Extensa(5220), I found that the

High Definition Audio Device was defined by Windows 7. However, I have another HP laptop which has its own Audio driver, which let Hidh Definitin audio Device to be defined as 'Hidh Definitin audio Device Codec' and its associated program via which I can manage the Audio settings.

Thus, Can I find the own Audio driver for Acer laptop? I really looked for that under Windows 7(64Bit) at Acer website, but none of drivers were listed.

Thanks a lot.

I really have tried installing Snyaptic TougchPad Driver, which is specific for anthter HP Pavilon laptop of mine, then I am satisied with the result I have found so far, but the mouse was only updated. Also, I don't know whether this is OK or there some problems might be happening in the future with driver not designed for Acer laptop.

However, the keyboard is still with the lunch manager driver.

PS: I think there is some bad thing going on with uploading image via this forum, thus I think the admins should find a sloution.

I really don't see your screen shot post lately.

Thanks a lot,

I really have been seeing the screen shots I have posted, there were 7 screen shots, if you couldn't see them, then you would never understand me at all. What should I do, they are still listed and I am seeing them.

@Since you chose your base language as Arabic, you might try to change it in Control Panel to English to see if the Arabic is concealed.@

It is impossible to change the base language since it was chosen while installing Windows 7, thus it is the default language, which will not be removed as well. If you could seen my screen shots, you would understood me

yes I can only change the user interface from Arabic into English, Thus, all menue became dispalyed in English. But, some contens on those screen shots, (Sound, keyboard, modem,) are dispalyed in Arabic.

@

However, please remember, the Microsoft website suggests that you must download and install an additional optional language pack to get the language interface working properly. Did you in fact download this additonal optional language pack from Microsoft? Or was it downloaded and installed by the person from whom you bought your new computer? I have no way of knowing if the language pack is already on your computer.@

No, I didn't install from Windows language packages updates, they were downloaded and installed by the person from whom I boght my computer. Even when I try to 'download languages from addtional optional langauge pack from MS, I really didn't see that English, French, and Arabic were listed in the from addtional optional langauge packs because they were considere installed. However, all other languages, such as German, Russian, and so on are listed there.

As I said that I really could have chosen the English from control panel's region and language to be the user interface language, and almost everything reveresed into English, except some content in the preporties of 'Sound'', (headphone, and speaker and keyboard are shown in Arabic.

I am only caurios to know why?

I wish that you can check agian my screen shots I posted again below

Please ignore the previous post about language, and accept this below:

With regard to user-interface language, I would say I have installed a Windows 7 ultimate(64Bit), and while installing there were three languages (English, French, and Arabic), I have chosen Arabic, thus, as you see, that the three languages were installed and the Arabic is default language. Thus, when changing the user interface language into English as it is now shown, then all texts should have been displayed in English.

However, as you see in these screen shots below, that 'headphone, microphone, speaker and so on are displayed in Arabic. Only the sound, keyboard, mouse, modem entries, I have seen that some texts are displayed in Arabic.

This is very strange. IF so, then this is not an internal microphone, but it is an external microphone.
I really have tried to make a phone call via Skype with other Skype user without any microphone plugged to the port of microphone on my laptop, but if there were internal microphone, then he must have heard me.
Do you think that it is worth a try to buy external microphone and plug it to my laptop?

Thanks a lot,

Yes, but I was expecting that as long as speaker is not concealed, then once headphone is plugged, it will not also be concealed.

However, when I have checked it, I found that it was concealed, although speaker wasn't concealed.

Thus, when I have let it not be concealed, it workd well.

But also, could you please help me with why microphone is not working well? Does my Acer not use a built-in microphone or discrete microphone?

I really when trying speaking via Skype with another Skype user on another laptop, I can hear him via either speaker or headphone of my laptop, but he cannot hear me while I am speaking. He can hear other Skype users on other laptops other than me, which means that his micropone and speaker are working well . I think that I will need an internal microphone to let my voice be recieved by my laptop.

How can I be quite sure which microphone my laptop uses, built-in(internal) or external, or mixed.

Finally: Out of topic, but it is important for me, as you see in my speicfic two screen shots below, that some text desplay is shown in Arabic. This's starnge. My system's base language is Arabic. But the user interface language is now English. So, all texts should be displayed in English.

Hi,

My Laptop Brand is Acer
Product name is Esxtensa 5220.
My Windows system is 7 Ultimate(64Bit)

I haven't installed any Keyboard/mouse driver software when I installed Windows 7 because when I have looked at the official Acer website, I didn't find any Keyboard or mouse drivers listed for Windows 7(64Bit). Thus, Windows 7 was installed them automcatically just when it was installed. I didn't install any keyboard and mouse dirver software at all.

I really see that my keyboard is not functioning well while typing on it. Sometimes I see that the another letter is typed although I have not typed it. Also, sometimes the mouse pointer skips to another location in the text box(for such text box for this forum) while typing which results in inserting letters in another place other than what I want them to be inserted.
I don't know what is this, but let me say.
While typing 't', then I see sometimes that another letter is typed instead instead. Also, sometimes while typing in text box a text, I find that mouse pointer skips to be placed in the middle or beginning of the text, so letters are written in anohter place other than what I want them to be.

Thus, is there any driver or program associated for Keyboard should be installed?

This is device manager shows that keyboard and mouse driver installed, Windows 7 was installed them automcatically just when it was installed.

Thanks a lot, I don't know what you're meaning with a USB powered HDD, however, if you meant with it with USB HDD needed to be connected to power supply via USB powered cable, I would say no, I have a USB HDD only connected to laptop and it doesnt' have to be plugged to power supply.

Thanks a lot,

Yes, I have tired connecting the exteranl hard disc to all USB ports, but the same is still happening. Also, I have tried connecting the exteranl HD to another laptop(HP), and I can quickely enter to either multi boot slection menu or BIOS.

This means no problem realted with External hard disc.

Note. the default settings of boot priority order is as follows:

1. hard drive.(IDE0)

2. IDE1:

3. CD/DVD drive

4. PCI LAN: Network Boot

5. Ext HDD (USB HDD)

However, what I am using is:

1.CD/DVD drive

2.hard drive. (IDE0)

3. Ext HDD (USB HDD)

4. IDE1

Yes, I have tried your suggestion as follows:

1. hard drive.

2. Ext HDD (USB HDD)

3. CD/DVD drive

But the same is still happening.

The problem is not showing me when no external hard drive connected, whatever boot priority order is setup.

Although the latest driver(WD SES Device) of WD external hard disc is installed and the external H.D is working well, the External hard disc sometimes needs to be reconnected in order to be detected. (It is always shown under USB Mass Storage Device under USB in the device manager.)

When the external hard disc is detected while I am on Windows interface(the external hard disc is shown on my computer), then when restaring the laptop, I found it takes me a long time to either enter to Mulit boot selction menu or to enter to BIOS. Thus, I guess that the problem is in slowley detecting the external hard disc while loading

NOTE: External hard disc is supported both USB2 and USB3, but as far as I know that Acer laptop I have doesn't use USB3.

Hi,

My laptop is Acer, and its specs are:

Intel Clerlon CPU 530, 1.73GHz

RAM: 2.5GB

H.D.D: 120GB

BIOS veersion: V1.16

Product Level 1:

Notebook

Product Level 2:

Extensa

Product Level 3:

Extensa 5220

The problem is that when I pluge any external hard disk to my laptop, then restart the laptop, I findd that it takes me a long time to enter to Multi Boot seclection menu or to BIOS settings.

Besides, if I leave Windows 7(64Bit) boots(not pressing on F12 nor F2) while external hard disk is plugged to, it also takes a long time to pass the Multi Boot selection menu( it takes about 5 minuets to pass the entering Multi Boot seclection menu, then (balck screen with pointer on the top left corner shows to me, it takes about 2 minutes until Windows begins to start).

This is only happening when an external hard disk is plugged to laptop. Even that there is no disc on the optical driver.

When there is no external hard disk is plugged to laptop, then I can quickely enter to Multi Boot seclection menu OR if leave the Windows 7 boots, the it quickly passes the Multi Boot seclection menu, and it also quickely starts

I have entered to the BIOS, but in the section 'boot' that boot priority order is as follows:

1st: CD/DVD

2sd: Loal WD hard disk

3th: USB HDD

In addition, I have entered into the 'Advanced' tab, then into the ASF confguaration, and I found this:

Minimum WatchDog Timeout [60]

BIOS Boot Timout [0]

OS boot Timeout [0]

Power-On wait time [60].

Thanks a lot for your kind reply.

I really was only told that my Graphics card is integrated, but I didn't see things about this mentioned on the sepcs of my laptop. Thus,

First: How can I know if my Graphics card is integrated or not.

Second: if so, then how can I upgraed if willing?

Finaly: If you have a look at my screenshots again, you will notice the latest driver of Intel Graphics Media Accelrator updated OpenGL version form 1.1 into maximum OpenGL 2.0 under Windows.

But the OpenGL required for opening Autodesk is 3.1

I have really installed the new driver of graphics card and it only updated the openGl from version 1.1 into 2.0.

But the aut desk Recap wasn't open and I am still asked to update the driver to supports open GL 3.

Yes, I have been told that my ACER uses a GMA X3100 integrated on GM965 chipset (launched in 2007 by Intel). This video card supports maximum OpenGL 2.0 under Windows (OpenGL 2.1 under Linux).

See this page on Wiki. So Recap couldn't be installed on your system.

As a result, if I want to upgrage my graphics card, how can I do, can I take it out and replace it with another one?

Thanks a lot,

Yes, I have installed this application, but this application only let me take over the keys located on the very left side of the keyboard(e, p, the others), but the key on which the symbol of sound is drawn isn't functioning when clicking on it.
