I am also in the market for a laptop . The salesman at best buy showed me a 15.5 " screen unit called a m5 583p 9688

It has a I7 processor &gb of ram for $800 . I want to do CAD drawings & design with it .

They only had 3 Acers there so it may have been the reason he showed it but he seemed to think it had all the power to do what I wanted .

He was pushing HP

I like the idea of a 17.3 " screen .

I am a novice as far as desiphering the atributes so my input there would not help .

Have you ever used an Acer ?

I have not ever used a touch screen & am curious .

I have no answers ,only questions .

Do you OLD guys & girls find the Acer to be a good computer ?

I am in the same boat & am about to buy a laptop computer & try to do CAD with it .Why not? nothing ventured nothing ....

I was part of the emachine floppy disk settlement & will have to buy from the settlement site so I expect my choices will be limited

Touch screen in new to me ,laptops are new to me, as is windows 8.I see a lot of distaste for win.8 on chats

We use win.7 at work .I like it well enough

I have been using computers for about 10 yrs. but only for e mail & research .

Any input would be greatly appreciated .
