Hi there,

Ever since I got my laptop back from repair 6 months ago, my Live Updater is telling me that I have a different model to the one I have.

I have a V5-571G whilst the updater tells me I have a V5-431

It also says I have a V5-431 in the Identity Card program

This has only happened AFTER I got my laptop back from repair

My laptop is running Windows 8.1 after updating from Windows 8

Any help would be great.
Acer Portal Error - Can't Sign In

Hi There,

I am using a V5-571G laptop and I recently updated my Acer Portal to the latest version. Ever since this update I've been getting this error:

I've checked my password and account name, and I have been able to login using them on the AcerBYOC website.

Updates are all checked, nothing to install, although a minor issue is showing up in the Live Updater program.

Also, Acer Portal updates ALWAYS disconnect, despite me having FULL internet connection

I'm running Windows 8.1, and my laptop has been to repair before.

Any help would be great. Thanks.

OPERATING SYSTEM NOT FOUND - Aspire V5-571

I tried installing another OS and switched the bios to legacy. I know, I'm an idiot for doing it. In addition to that I moved the Windows Boot Manager to the bottom of my boot list priority. Idiotic move as well. Now I can't boot into Windows 8.1, I'm stuck in this infinite cycle of 'media disk failure' (or something similar) and the 'Operating System not Found' error, and can't refresh or do anything to recover it because my hard drive is locked. I've read a lot of stuff that I had googled and they seem to do one of three things:

- Can't enter BIOS - I've tried hitting F2 as fast as I can and it's not working. Does anybody know another way of getting into BIOS? I've also tried using a USB Keyboard.

- Unlock HDD - How do I do this? I know that is a possible solution.

- Flash BIOS - Don't know how to do this at all. Don't even know if I really need to do this

PLUS, how do I tell if my BIOS is corrupted and needs to be re-flashed?

ALSO, should I just contact support and send my laptop in for repair?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Vince.

TECH STUFF

Windows 8.1
4GB of RAM
Intel Core i7
No touch screen
