Hi, I have a Travelmate 253. A few days ago I noticed that when scrolling up or down a page a "ripple" is present across the screen that moves down as I scroll. I have disabled my vpn and adblocker. It occurs whether on wifi or hard wired. I am concerned that it may be fault with the laptop which I purchased only 4 months ago. I hope my explanation is sufficient for someone to recognise the problem. thanks

Hi MDacerGuy, I have looked in more depth and found there are two programmes that are taking up disc space. The first is NTUSER.DAT and NSISPlugin.3812.dll. Do these mean anything to you please as I am a bit worried about just deleting them.

Thanks.

Hi MDacerGuy,

Thanks very much. I have downloaded the link and can see that "Users" is taking 92.22% of the disc consisting of 4,932 files.

Some files are "public" and some relate directly to things like desktop, favourites, games etc. "Users" is showm as "Builtin Administrators from 2009; whatever that is.What "Public" means I have no idea.

The recycle bin is empty.

I am temptied to restore lappy to manufacters specs. I have no personal files, photos etc and all I need to do is again add favourites and the bar and get rid of a lot of rubbish programmes that acer load onto these machines.

I have run a virus scan and all is clear. Any opinions would be very much appreciated.

Hi, A couple of weeks ago I purchased the travemate P253 with i5, 4GB. I installed windows 7.I started by uninstalling about half the programmes

and then installed ccleaner and microsoft essentials. I have no files as these are all on my hotmail account.

I have only 41 gb of free space and every time I delete something the free space on disc c decreases by the amount deleted instead of increasing.

I have deleted hibernate and virtually everything else that I can but free space continues to decrease.

It is as though everything I delete is then doubled and added to the disc.

I would very much appreciate advice please but may I ask that this be expressed in idiots terms. thank you.

Have found another supplier who is advertising

the NX V7VEK. 021 and 029 which is cheaper. I cant find the difference between the two and wonder whether you can please help yet again. Thanks jackteet

Amazon show this model as windows 7 Pro/ Windows 8 Pro.However In the specification windows 8 is given. I want 7 and hope that the model comes with both 7 and 8.

Are you please able to give me a difinitive answer please. Thanks jackteet

Hi Acer-tommy, Thanks very much.I have just found some "You Tube" reviews on both models. The Aspire appears to have

a glossy screen and reflects badly even in doors. The travelmate looks like it has a matte screen and had no reflection.

I think that is for me. Thanks very much for all your help.jackteet

Hi Acer-Tommy,

Thank you very much for the info and link.I can`t really find the info I need so I wonder whether I can pick your brains yet again please.

As previously mentioned I will not need to carry my laptop so size and weight is not an issue.

I can`t decide between the Aspire E1-571 and the travelmate P253_M, both with i5 and 4 or 6GH.

I prepare a lot of invoices so need a full numeric keypad. I have previously only been used to the embeded numeric pad

at the top of the keyboard. Would you say there is any real difference in using the type fitted to the acers.

finally the Aspire reviews suggest the plasticy build quality is rather flimsy but the travelmate is sturdier. Would you agree.

I am house-bound so can`t visit stores to examine the two different models.

I do hope you dont mind me firing these questions at you but there is limited info on the net whereas you are clearly an expert. Many thanks jackttet

I wanted to know whether the acer has a numeric keypad.

Also I still cant decide whether to buy an Aspire or travelmate. The laptop will never move from my desk but I am rather heavy handed so want to get which ever of these two models is the studiest. Are you please able to comment. thanks

Hi, I am very new to this forum and to Acers so please forgive me if my questions are stupid. At present I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro which is 3 years old. It has intel i5 and 4GB but I would like something a little faster.

I am interested in the Aspire E1-571 NX. MO9EK 032 or 028 and the Travelmate P453 NX. V6ZEK 018.

I would like a sturdy machine whos hinges don`t break in a couple of months and doesn`t flex.

I am afraid I have several questions; firstly is either aspire or travelmate the sturdier in construction.

All model numbers end in 3 digits but there are many different ones for laptops that to me are exactly the same. What do these last three digits denote.

I am looking for i5 or i7 with 6 or 8GBwhich I hope will give more apeed. I want a numeric keyboard and non reflective screen.

I would very much appreciate advice and opinions from a patient member. Thanks.
