It just takes a little getting used to that is all. With the touch screen feature, I find rarely even use the mouse pad! If the mouse pad is needed, it is poised so the fingertips can easily access it. Having the screen up and kind of over the touch pad in a near horizontal/slightly slanted position is so easy on the eyes and neck. This is a GREAT computer and the design is working very well. Hope this helps.

CTT

Re: Poor Wifi on new Aspire R7

I purchased an R7 a couple of weeks ago from BB and have not had any WIFI problems that relate to the computer itself. I do use the computer regularly in an environment where the WIFI signal is quite weak for all computers. In that environment, there is a challenge---the same challenge that has been experienced with other laptops in the past. I just found a solution for that which might be helpful for others who are having WIFI signal strength problems with their R7's: I purchased a Tan1 Wifi signal amplifier/extender. It works VERY WELL with the R7/Windows 8 and has boosted the speed of the internet in the challenging setting a LOT---it is quite speedy. The Tan1 it a small device that clips onto the computer and connects with a USB cord.

There are SO MANY POSITIVE THINGS about the R7 to note. To me, it would be hard to "go back" to the "old style" laptop after using it. :-) It may be that using the R7 with a Tan1 will solve challenges for those who also really like the computer and are looking for a way around their challenge with the WIFI.

CTT
