Around 90GB; you can delete some of the included bloatware and metro apps to maximize space, though.

2. Hardware quality is very good, in my experience. Everything feels solid and well put together. I don't think it will malfunction down the road.

3. Yes. I downloaded one of the first available fixes for my WiFi and it was fixed since. I don't know why other people are having issues, but I have solved this problem on two W700s so far, so I don't think I'm simply lucky. Odds are, others are not doing it correctly. Honestly, Windows 8 is the biggest software problem. Nothing of Acer's doing.

4. The 10.6 screen of the SP will make the hard to use desktop in W8 even harder to use. I prefer the more generous screen of the W700.

5. Works fine for my mouse and keyboard.

6. Outstanding. Anywhere between 6-9 hours depending on what I am doing.

7. N/A
8. I haven't had experience with them.
9. W700.

When is someone going to admit that this really isn't a driver issue - it's a Qualcomm/Atheros/Acer issue? The range flat out sucks. I'm four feet from my router. I may as well just be wired into it. It fluctuates between five and one bar and cannot keep a steady VPN connection because of this. This tablet is a huge paperweight for me.

I tried so, so hard to love this and I do - when it works. But using my one and only USB port on a wifi card is not an option because now I cannot use flash storage and be on the net at the same time. And no, I'm not dragging this silly dock everywhere. You can all take this with a grain of salt if yours works well for you and I am truly jealous if that's the case. But after following this thread for two weeks, reading every post twice, I'm sorry to say that I'm going to use my return window on this tablet and go with something else.

Thank you to all of those who have been vigilently posting and trying to help others. I don't think it was meant for gaming either even though it could handle some light and casual games.

For the most part, this tablet processor seems to me to be performing pertty much the way it should and I really don't have any problem with it. Obviously besides the fact that I've had this tablet for less than a week and slight upgrade to the accessories and CPU has me a bit ticked, but overall I'm quite happy.

What's the upgrade besides the CPU? While that case looks very nice, I recall seeing a poster being very disappointed with it. They said it made pulling out the tablet for brief use combuersome, and that it exposed the keyboard to damages it otherwise wouldn't incur.

Persionally, I have always disliked keyboard cases, though I understand the appeal. They just aren't flexible. Just another reason I declined the Surfac Pro.

What would really have me miffed is if they released a version with a Thunderbolt port.

The general description says 3317U, but if you look at the detail it shows 3337U 1.8ghz. Also someone from the UK has just received a S7 i5 version with the updated processor (previously listed with 3317U). This makes me believe that sooner than later Acer will start shipping the W700 with 3337U and with eventually with the Keyboard case as well.

BTW, I think another reason why our HD4000 doesn't perform as well as some of other brands i5 3317U is because we have DDR3 1333 memory instead of some of the other brands that uses DDR3 1600. I know the desktop version the RAM speed is a factor for the iGPU since that is what it runs off of.

Nah, 1333 doesn't make a real difference over 1600. It's only when you start comparing 1066 to 1866 and up do you see real gains.

There is almost no difference: (AMD APU)

And Sopa, there isn't any need to be upset about the CPU upgrade. The difference is next to nothing, and in 6 months time, our vy Bridge chips will be obsolete anyway. Such is life.

I'm not seeing my i5 throttle to i3 levels, though. It throttles, but not to 1.7ghz.

I believe it was the 217 revision before the v3 came out this January. However, on my frends 6607, the v3 worked, too.

Re: Does Anyone From Acer Ever Read These Forums?

Well, at least they offer us forums. Other than Sony and Dell, I didn't notice any other major manufacturer (with competitive tablets to the W700 at least) with forums at all; Sony's forums were divided into very specific subsets which would have made posts like what we see here hard to categorize. Dell doesn't offer space specific to tablets, and we all kow their customer service is abysmal in every form. Honestly, be glad you have an open, easy to use forum to express your concerns on.

While I can't say I agree with how Acer is handling the forums (there should be more replies), I don't expect customer service from any manufacturer to be stellar, because, in my experience, it has all been terrible (especially Dell).

I'd say just be patient, and keep trying. Maybe I just got lucky when I got my WIFI drivers fixed, even though I managed to help my friend with his tablet, too. He has a 6607, I have the 6465.

The only real issue after that is the i5 throttling issue, which Acer may consider to be working as intended for the sake of battery life and temps. I can respect that. However, their BIOS should be more open for power users, but complicated enough to deter people who would ruin their tablet.

I'd hang on to the device, especially considering that every tablet seems to be having its respective complaints, whilst being more expensive than the W700, and, in my opinion, inferior options.

I'd like to say that I can confirm that the most recent driver is working on my friends 6607, which I personally installed the driver on. He hasn't had any disconnects since.

I also tested the range problem everyone seems to be having. I had no speed decreases until I reached the oppoite corner of my home, which is roughly...20-25 meters away. Windows showed 3/5 bars of connection strength. At this point, I could still achieve nearly maximum connection speed (my connection at home isn't the fastest, and I have a dual-band N600 router from NetGear). However, there were some fluctuations on Speedtest.net. My iPhone and VAIO both scored around the same, and slightly better (less than a Mb), however, they tended to be more consistent. I don't know if that wa due to unlucky network activity when I used my W700 or not (I interfered with my iPhone's testing and it had low readings when I did). I was even managing to stream 720p content from YouTube to the tablet (nothing in my house can stream 1080p, wired or not). Occasional buffering wa required.

I haven't noticed any issues with my tablet, after instaling the newer driver I posted a screencap of earlier. Maybe I just don't use my tablet the way others do.

My version is not the most recent release. However, my friend, whom I helped with this problem, is not having any more issues, and he is using the most recent version.

Not to sound like an Acer shill, but most companies face these issues in some form, and often get the same response some of us are giving Acer. It just happened to be Acer that you bought from. If it were Samsung, you might be complaining about the troubles of their stylus and their terrible support.

Then again, it's working for me, so I can't exactly share your pain. 😝
