Betreff: Poor Wifi on new Aspire R7

Today I received my R7 from reparation. Wifi is working as it should now

Is definitely the same device I sent them in, no new R7. (And SNID starts with 322...)

I'm from Germany. And I'm now very happy with the device

Changes:

KN.4GB07.008 SODIMM.4GB.DDR3L-1600.KIN

R7.KIT KIT.R7.REWORK

So the RAM has been exchanged and something was reworked.

And the OS was recovered...

With UPS it took all in all 7 working days.

Problem solved

The solution to the problem is NOT returning the devices at least 2 times to BestBuy and be another person who posts that it didn't work here but sending in your device with bad wifi to Acer who fix it within a week.

So stop doing the same mistake for weeks and just do what Acer says. It takes time to change the production of the R7 and exchange all the devices they sell worldwide.

And no one ever said it's the internal wifi adapter. Acer_cory said it's a complex and not easy to find problem, that's why it took so long. It could for example be because of the magnets in the device or whatsoever, not important, just send in your device and stop doing the sameaction over and over again and wondering why it doesn't work...

Yes if it was something that easy Acer would explain here the 5 steps to fix it and avoid paying so much for fixing every single R7 with the wifi problem

I'm wondering too why you think you need to pay something? It's a warranty case, you put your laptop into the original box, print the UPS sticker Acer sends you, put it on the box, UPS comes and fetches the box, and a few days later you have it again. It doesn't cost you anything, and it's really not that much effort.

And the second I'm wondering: Acer said they have now the solution and we therefore need to send in the laptops to the repairing service. So don't say there's no solution. There is one that no one yet could confirm because no one yet received his repaired notebook and only a few sent it in because the solution seemed to be found 3 days ago. So please calm down a bit...

Come on guys let's simply trust Acer, send in our devices and if it won't fix the problem we can still be angry afterwards.

The R7 is not simply another laptop but nearly a new kind of device, so unexpected problems can happen.

And I just got a mail from Acer that the problem has been identified... so let's hope the best

I just got a message as well that I should send in my Aspire R7. I think I will do it, at least they now think they know what the problem is. Of course RAM doesn't make any sense at all, but if it was a reason they thought of, it would be something less ridiculous.

However, if it won't be fixed afterwards I will transform to a giant dragon and apocalypse will begin...

I'm from Germany and bought mine in Germany (not BestBuy ).

I think in laptop reviews they mostly write down technical specs, run some benchmark programs, do their screen tests and that's it. Don't think they ever need to download something at all.

I also think that it's a hardware problem, maybe even the Ezel-hinge is part of the problem, don't know which material it is.

Oh and my friends said that they also had problems with Wifi when they bought their Acer-notebooks a few years ago and they joked that it would be more strange if I bought an Acer-laptop and wifi would be working without problems... so that's calming somehow... >_<

Sorry Acer, but this problem is sooo ridiculous.

Yes I noticed too that the connection is worse after sleep mode, I think even when I use my USB WLAN connector. And Bluetooth connection is always bad when I download something. I have bluetooth speakers and notice it immediately. If I don't download anything or just load a simple website there are no problems.

I thought Bluetooth and WLAN are 2 different systems that don't have anything to do with each other...

By the way, when I use the USB Wlan Adapter for a longer time, the connection speed gets muuuuuch slower, too. Then I need to restart and the connection is good again.

But I'm not sure whether I'm the only one with that happening...

Yes I noticed too, but wasn't sure if it was my bluetooth sound speakers or the notebook. Wlan and bluetooth both are from Broadcom and usually have the same driver, right?

Is actually someone from acer active here in the official acer support forum?

Haha yes it's like the iPhone 4 death grip!

No, the R7 is a very well product and I give Acer that chance... but they should simply give a statement about what's the problem and what's the solution and when we can expect it

Same problem here... I had installed Windows 8.1 Preview before and I noticed the connection was lost much less. But still the WLAN wasn't as fast as it should be.

I now have an external WLAN USB-Stick and it works as it should.

I have an Aspire R7 571G-53338G75ass.
