battery not recognized

my battery after long period (> 2yrs) not used (worked fine last time when used) is not recognized anymore after inserting. it says battery not detected. anyone had experienced this issue before & was able to fix it? searching the net, there's a recommendation by acer UK & USA for similar issue to upgrade BIOS to resolve it. wanted to check if someone has done it before for AU model before attempting BIOS upgrade. Thanks.

Some types of battery purportedly lose some of their capacity permanently if not used for long periods of time. You may check by refresing the batter device in device manager.

Disconnect AC adapter, Remove battery. Connect AC adapter and power ON the computer.

Open Device Manager, Under the Batteries category, right-click all instances of Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery , and select Uninstall, even if you have only one

Shutdown, Disconnect AC adapter, Insert battery, Connect AC adapter , Power on the laptop and chekc if the battery is detected and charging.

If the issue persists, you need to replace the battery.

thanks for the tip but unfortunately did not work. it's funny how unused battery becomes as good as dead battery. it doesn't seem to work that way for mobile battery.
