My aspire s3 screen suddenly goes black. When I connect it to HDMI I can see the display on the HDMI device. When I disconnect HDMI the screen display comes back but again goes black after some time. Can someone suggest if it is a hardware problem or some settings to be done. This display problem happens when I restart or power on the note book.

Try pressing the FN key and the F5 key at the same time....

Try pressing the FN key and the F5 key at the same time. This should toggle the system between the internal display and external display. You may need to press FN then the F5 key 2 or 3 times depending on which display setting you want.

You can also go into display properties in Windows and set how you want the system to behave with multiple displays.
