travelmate p253 shuts down with no warning

Bought my Acer May 2014 and lately the pc shuts down randomly with no warning. No blue screen or reason. Please help

Usually this happens when it gets too hot and shuts down to protect the processor.Have you checked the fan grills on the bottom to see if they are obstructed?

no I have not - did not know about that but it is happening more and more each day sometimes within 10 mins of turning the pc on. I have desktop pcs which I use throughout the day and only use the laptop in the evenings. Usually only for a few hrs at a time,

I have looked at youtube on how to clean fan but am wondering if I open the pc as videos suggust I would then be out of warranty. Today I bought a 5 fan cooling pad but again within 30 mins laptop shutdown

You may want to download a free temperature utility and see if it is temp related.There are several good ones such as Core Temp, Real Temp, CPUID.These are safe downloads, but have your anti-virus current anyway.

ok thank you - out of curiosity if it tuns out the machine has a fault who should I be asking to fix or replace. The original retailer or Acer? Thank you guys for your assistance so far

I installed core temp but pc still shuts down after 30 mins with no error at all. I have no idea what to do, I have a cooling pad but again did not resolve the problem. Looks like I shall have to contact support on this matter

I have now discovered it is a hardware fault. Yesterday I contacted Technical support and was asked to boot the Pc into Bios mode and leave in that state and to see if mc still shut down which it did 32 mins later. I hope this will help anyone else who has this problem. Thank you all for the help you have provided
