Hello!

I recently bought the acer aspire v3-772g laptop with the gtx 850m. After installing windows 8.1 and going to desktop, there weren't any problem until the computer automatically installed the integrated intel graphics driver. After that the screen started to flicker non-stop on the desktop. Removing the intel graphics driver solved the issue, but that way I can't use the intel VGA. I read somewhere that the problem might be BIOS related and downgrading to 1.08 would solve the issue. However I'm not sure if I should do that.
Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Are you running the 1.11 bios? Acer took it down so they must agree it's faulty. They now have v1.15 with support for GTX 650m and v1.13 bios upgrades. The 1.15 is probably what you want.

The thing is I already have the bios 1.15 version.I just tested it and it seems that I can't play any games on my laptop if i dont have the intel driver for some reason. However with the intel driver the screen always flickers but not in game, only on desktop.

It does appear that at this time your only recourse is to roll back to v 1.08.Hopefully Acer will come up with a bios upgrade that will remedy this.

According to the BIOS descriptions on the acer site, it seems that the lates BIOS version only has gtx 850m support. If I were to downgrade to 1.08, wouldn't there arise problems with the nvidia card's usage such as the device not working properly?

All the discussions I've read about this problem has them going back to 1.08 and I haven't seen any complaints about the graphics. Were having some graphics problem that called for a bios upgrade?

I didn't upgrade my BIOS, it came with the latest BIOS because of the graphics card. The people that have fixed it by downgrading have a older version of the same laptop with a different graphics card.
