Cable port to router inactive

Acer Aspire 5250 - The wireless connection is working but when I plug in to use the wired connection the computer continues to connect wirelessly.

Also, in Device Manager it says Ethernet Controller driver is missing and Update Driver cannot find one.

double click on you ethernet controller with missing drivers, go to "details" tab, choose "hardwareIDs" from drop down menu.

then click on the first value, copy/paste here.

Thank you, that fixed it.

I had a problem along the way in that the computer did not know how to unzip. I manually assigned Windows Explorer to handle .zip files but I do not understand why that was not automatically set up by Windows.

I can suggest to use 7z for zip, rar etc etc

very powerfull and totally free.
