Hi My Aspire 5740G will not load Windows7 Home premium version. No discs software came pre-loaded.

When I turn on my laptop is says "windows failed to start" and gives the options of launching a repair or to start windows normally. Either option progresses initially to a screen saying loading files then a blank blue screen appears and finally a blue screen showing some windows graphics ie a leaf and bird and remains like this for hours. All the software came preloaded so I have no disks to recover the system. Have tried F7, F8, F2 options etc will no avail. Help would be greatly appreciated. I also have an Acer all-in-one purchased earlier this year running Windows8 without any problems.

Can you take a picture of this blue screen and post here?

Have you tried a factory reset?

at boot press ALT+F10, this will re-install from recovery Window 7; you will loose all your data on system partition.

Hi Thanks for replying.

I tried Alt-F10 as you suggested. It ends with screen saying "please wait a moment" and remains this way for hours. Any ideas?
