Battery Doesn't Charge Unless Computer Put to Sleep or Shutdown

I love my Acer M5-581T-6807 & my new 120 gig SSD has saved me. It's just enough memory to keep me happy, as I store most of my data on the 450 gig mech. D drive. Now the battery is a problem. It does not charge after it's been on battery & then you go plug it in. It will start to show that it is charging with the battery icon animation showing an upward charging action. That then stops in a few moments, and the battery will stay at whatever percentage it was at when you plugged it in. So I have to put the computer to sleep or shut-down & then it will charge. IT ALSO will keep charging then when you restart. So that is my solution for now. I put the computer to sleep more often, since then I can just continue the next time I restart. What I have attempted is to remove drivers, that didn't work. So I did a removal of the battery, for a minute with the removal of drivers too, and then reconnected. That didn't work. AND this is NOT something I am going to do again, because I had to remove the 16 screws on the back & then carefully pull out the battery connector. If I could just remove the battery with a push of the button I would. So does anyone know of a software solution I could try? Happy 4th of July.

I have Windows 7 Ultimate on it. I don't know if how I would get Windows 8 back on it. It is registered for 8 but it has 7 now, which I like.

There may be some changes and/or updates you could try with the BIOS and/or drivers. But I'd only mess around like that if you find your charging issue intolerable. From your description, I don't feel this is the case.

I'm assuming you or someone else loaded ultimate on the SSD. In the future, I recommend any such changes be made by simply swapping out the SSD with another new SSD from Amazon or Crucial so you can more easily return the system to factory fresh condition if needed.

I have the original 20 gig SSD drive & my replacement 120 gig is inside. No, I don't want to go to Windows 8, but will hang onto the 20 gig SSD as a backup if needed someday.
