Acer's global policy regarding warranty, states that the warranty becomes null and void if the Acer sticker is tampered or missing, or if the unit was serviced by unauthorized service center or personnel.

In the US and Canada, we generally overlook this and will service a system, as long as it was not damaged when it was opened, and it has all of the factory OEM parts installed. (no third party hardware)

If you are in a different region, I recommend you contact their technical support to inquire about voiding your warranty.

The wireless lan card in this system connects directly to the mainboard. The upper case must be completely removed, as well as the keyboard, then you can access the wlan card.

hello all,

i need some info on the wireless adaptor in my laptop, Qualcomm Atheros AR956x Wireless Network Adapter.

i think it's an 1x1 wifi card, meaning it will go as much as 150mbps. it's a very fast card with low latency, love it.

but i can't find the specs anywhere or any documentation how to make it go faster than 150mbps on my Netgear R6250

so i guess i would need to change it. i need faster for big file transfers to & from my nas.

i would like to know if it's possible to change it for an intel 7260 802.11ac 2.4/5.0ghz ?

i would need to add an antena (i can get that at amazon or my local shop) and that means opening the screen bezel. i'm not sure i'm comfortable doing that yet but i like to tinker. i have an old laptop i could practice on.

Anyway, can someone tell me 1) is this going to void my warranty and B) how to get to the card on the laptop please, is it under the keyboard or on the bottom of the laptop ?

What model computer do you have? I think for most notebooks, you would have to take the system completely apart. I don't think there is an access panel. Not sure about the warranty.

Hi acer-blayn
I have an aspire e1-572-6676 I've added it to my signature for easy reference.

Am i to understand by your response that the wifi card is located between the keyboard and screen bezel?

Before I proceed can you tell me if that would void the warranty and also the number of antennas? I may need to order extras for the ac card.

Indeed it would have been a good idea to have an access panel like you mentioned, and i hope the designers planned ahead and put in 2 antennas. That would have been thoughtful.
