thanks for feedback

Battery is really ok, after shutdown is still approx 90% of capacity left in the battery.

There is never a blue screen. No entry in the log you mentioned, not at the time of the switch off, there are only the standard start-up entries.

I do not consider a temperature of ~40degrC as being a hotspot, that is air comming out the ventilation slots. Bottom of casing is around handwarm, no hot spot anywhere.

As the BIOS is still the original one and this strange behavior occurred just reacently, I do not see what a BIOS update would help, but that might be the last resort before throwing it away.

My asus aspire 5538 with win-7 and when running on battery only,

is shutting down approx after 30 to 45min after starting.

This without (over-)heating the CPU, battery pack in perfect shape, cooling fan just changed and internals cleaned.

Anyone knowing a quick fix of this annoying problem ?

Is your Acer Aspire 5538 battery empty and this is why it shuts down ?

No hot spot areas on your notebook when it closes down ? No blue screen and power off ? Have you looked in Control Panel > Admin tools > event viewer > windows log > system - click on level so it sorts issues by severity and see what errors you have recordered ?

I would charge the battery to 100%, keep the power adapter plugged in and update the BIOS to the most up to date. See if the fault persists.
