Acer Aspire TimelineX 1830T-68U118 with a new hard drive. How do I get the bluetooth to work?

I have an Acer Aspire TimelineX 1830T-68U118. The original hard drive died, so I replaced it with a new hard drive. I've loaded Windows 7 x64 and loaded the chipset drivers and network drivers. The laptop is still not seeing my bluetooth hardware (even though I've loaded the Atheros drivers). Has anyone else had this issue? How do I get the bluetooth to work?

Try loading the Broadcom drivers which are also listed under Windows 7 x64.

I have a similar issue. I replaced my hard drive with a SSD and bluetooth no longer works. I downloaded the latest Broadcom driver and tried to install it, but an error message states that "no bluetooth device was detectected". The latop is a 1830t-68u118. On the underside it says "bluetooth radio", and it was working at one time.

Please advise.

If you have opened the system and changed hardware, I would not be able to tell you what has occured.

It's possible that you moved wires or the bluetooth board.

Does the bluetooth module hardware show up in Device Manager?

If not, it's a hardware issue.

Thank-you for responsing.

The bluetooth module does not show up in the Device Manager.

When I run HWVendorDetection.exe the bluetooth identifies Broadcom.

When I try to install Bluetooth_Broadcom_6.3.0.4300_W7x86W7x64 driver, the installation process give me a message indicating that there is no bluetooth module connected and that I should connect it and re-run the installation.

There is not been any other hardware modification other than sliding in-out a new hard drive.

What else can I check?

I forgot to ask, where do I look to inspect the bluetooth module? Perhaps I can re-seat the card.

I do see what appears to be a wifi coard with a black and white antenna lead attached.

The bluetooth module is not accessable from the bottom of the unit and should be fixed in place on the mainboard.

If you are not detecting the bluetooth module hardware in Windows, I would contact service for hardware assistance.

Hello,

I disassembled the laptop and removed the bluetooth module in case it is defective.

Would the service department be able to provide me with a new module?

That would likely depend on the warranty status of the system.

You would need to contact service for options.
