Seen this problem before. Did you by chance uninstall the program "Launch Manager"?

Even if you didn't I would say to try and reinstall it. Here is a link to the application from the Acer website.

Launch Manager

If that doesnt work I would suggest simply recovering Windows and bringing the unit back to factory defaults. Doing this will eliminate any software issues, and if the problem persists it's likely the button itself is the issue. But to be perfectly honest I would assume launch manager is the culprit.

Try out the link I sent you and if it doesn't work let me know and I can walk you through a recovery.

Ok guys, pretty sure I have it. Acer uses a program called launch manager to manage FN keys. here's a link from the Acer site: Launch Manager

Download this and install it. There's a chance this won't work for you jjw258, but if it doesn't work for either of you please let me know.

I am having a similar issues to the guys above.

My function keys including Fn, Esc and Num Lock are not working.

I have tried everything I could think of to get them to work again and it is driving me insane as they worked fine before.

I have an Acer Apire E1-571 with SNID: 24117113516, with a Windows 8.1, 64-bit.

Initially, when I updated to W8.1 the wireless connection to my rooter stopped working, somehow I maanged to fix that with an update on the Acer website, not sure which one. In the process I replaced my Launch Manager as well and since then everything has gone awol. My wifi works but now I have a big chunk of keys that do nothing... I have tried re-installing the Launch Manager but no luck, it didnt work.

I had a Samsung before buying this and so far this Acer has been a nightmare, everytime Windows or any other software provider add an update, something stops working and it is driving me insane.

Can some godly man be kind enough to help me, please?

Thanks in advance,

Everest
