I have a question and was wondering if anyone can provide some assistance. I have been helping my mother out with her computer and so far:

-Installed Windows 7 Ultimate (32, cant handle Win8)

-Fixed CD/DVDrw drive (wouldn't eject)

After hooking everything back up there was a sound that was not normal. Opened up the desktop and found that a fan was just loose. Also the cable connecting the power switch (front) was barely attached to the motherboard) and after fixing those the computer would not turn on.

Further investigation found that the actual switch was wearing out so I had to reattach the two wires that makes it work.

Now the computer will turn on but only right when I flip the power switch on the back. It will turn on 2/3 fans + 2 built in fans to power supply but the 3rd (attached to the CPU) takes nearly 3 seconds, spins and the computer beeps once (Acer site indicates 1 beep=System OK right? ).

This is where the entire system just shuts down, no lights or anything.

To reproduce the startup-shutdown problem I need to flip the power switch (back) for about 5 second before it will do it all over again. No errors on monitor because it will not make it to BIOS or anything.

Also I am not sure is the wiring is correct:

-PSU Cable #1 ---> CD/DVDrw Drive ---> Main CD Drive

-PSU Cable #2 ---> 12V Fan ---> 2nd 12V Fan ---> SATA HDD

Other two cable are in the appropriate slots

[: Any suggestions would be appreciated :]

-Sam

Hello Dar_071963,

The Aspire T135 worked under Windows XP 32bits. I don't know if it's compatible with Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bits.

I confirm "1 beep=system ok".

You can try to clear CMOS like this:

-- OFF VOLTAGE --

To clear CMOS (p20), place this jumper on pins 1-2.

Don't forget to replace it on pins 2-3 (Normal position).

Note: If you haven't a ESD equipment, be careful to static electricity.

In the same time, you can change the battery (CR2032).

Well I must be doing something wrong. Successful steps provided were taken but after changing to 2-3 pins from 1-2 pins the computer will not attempt to turn on like before. Switching the pins back also didnt alow the computer to turn on. Ill try and use a tester to see if there is power to the supply and devices.

PSU works fin on its own (using a bridge connection with wire)

But when I connect it to the motherboard it doesnt respond at all. Lights, beeps, etc

Any Suggestions?

-Sam
