HELP WITH ASPIRE X1700 DVD/CD DRIVER

The driver for my DVD/CD suddenly stopped working. Device driver status in control panel states: "A driver for this device has been disabled. An alternate driver may be providing this functionality. (Code 32) Click 'Check for solutions' to send date about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available." I followed the recommendation, but no solution was available through Microsoft.

I am running Vista 64-bit, and my device is listed as HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH15F SCSI CdRom Device, the manufacturer is listed as (Standard CD-ROM drives), and the location is Bus Number 1, Target Id 1, LUN 0.

Any help would be appreciated. I don't have recovery disks, and if I did, I wouldn't be able to run them.
