tópico aspire e1-532 adding disk drive em 2014 Archives

I bought this for my kid but didn't notice it had no disk drive until 2weeks later. Question is can I add one and will the CPU have the plug in for it, or will it have to go external? Who heard of a laptop with no disk tray?

Hi Qlmechanical!

Quite a lot of laptops now come without optical drives - they're usually known as an Ultrabook!

Best thing to do is to add an external drive, which are now quite inexpensive. The motherboard is unlikely to have a connector for one. Even so, it would invalidate any warranty!

Some people prefer to play online games or even just to download them. Also they like a very lightweight, slim laptop with longer battery life. Or even have no or little use for an optical drive. That is the market for the Ultrabook!

There are, obviously laptops still being made with optical drives, but the Ultrabook gives people the option.
