Acer Aspire 7535-5020 powers up but blank screen

My acer laptop is like 3 yrs old. and all of a sudden it will power on all lights and fan and HD sounds can be seen and heard but the screen stays black. please help

You may try performing a power reset :

To perform a power reset:

1.Unplug the AC adapter from your notebook.

2.Turn the notebook over to remove the battery.

3.Turn the notebook back over and open it.

4.Hold down the power button for 30 seconds, then release the power button.

5.Turn the notebook back over and slide the battery back into place.

6.Slide the lock tab back into the lock position.

7.Turn over the notebook one last time and plug in your AC adapter.

8.Turn on your notebook.

Thanks. I have tried that already and still nothing. I have also tried to hook up an external monitor and get nothing. im not sure if it is a screen issue or something else.

If you ever found a solution to this problem some help would be greatly appreciated. I really can't afford a new laptop anytime soon.

If you tried an external VGA monitor and/or an HDMI TV, and toggled the Fn + F5 video key combos, and still see nothing, the video adapter has likely failed.
