I agree with you.

Do you have any recommendations / references on the best way to repair? Do you have any knowledge if it is worth repairing? Are you aware of any DIY online instructions to repair?

Thank you.

Aspire 5100 - Does not Power-On

Aspire 5100 does not power on.

This problem began as an intermittent problem. It would power on only after repeated pressing of the power button. Especially having to press the power button on the far left corner. Now the unit will not power on at all. No lights. The battery is removed, and have tried with known good 120V power outlet.

It seems to me it may be a defective power switch/button since when pushing on the left side of the power button the feel is "soft" when depressing it.

After reading through some blogs I have come across that it may be any one of several different possibilities including a defective mother board, loose graphics card or RAM, etc.

If anyone can provide a systematic troubleshooting guide or insight as to how I may resolve this issue it is much appreaciated.

Thank you.
