Hey,

I've been wondering the same thing.

The stock SSDs don't actually perform that well on their own but make up in performance in a RAID 0 setup if you don't mind having 2 points of data failure. I was hoping to experiment a bit and get a larger single well performing SSD or 2 and maybe benchmarking RAID 0 on them.

I found some unconfirmed bad news for a similar model (Aspire S7) - source http://thessdreview.com/hardware/notebooks/acer-aspire-s7-touch-screen-ultrabook-review-worlds-fastest-ultrabook-intros-new-ssd-form-factor/3/

Apparently they're reporting that there is only 1 proprietary split-pin mSATA interface that somehow reads a proprietary double-sided SSD.

Hopefully this is not the case for our S5's as I wanted to upgrade the SSDs as well.

On another note, this may make sense as I could not find any information on the 2x64GB SSDs according to their BIOS model IDs. I emailed the manufacturer (LiteON) asking for specs on the drive but have not heard back.

I will probably end up looking into the hardware myself at some point when I get a chance. Have you found anything else?
