I have had my W700 for about three weeks now. Recently when I open Internet Explorer from the start screen and then tap on a typable field, the internal keyboard screen does not pop up to allow entry of text. I have to go to the desktop, tap on the keyboard icon in the system tray to open the keyboard, then close the keyboard and desktop, returning to the start screen. Then the internal keyboard works as it should. Anyone else having this issue.

Kevin

Kevin,

Does the keyboard work normally with IE using the desktop interface? What about in other applications? You can always try a Windows system restore to restore the computer back to a time when it was working normally. If a system restore does not fix the issue, you may need to completely recover the system. For instructions on recovering your unit, visit http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/26281.

Thanks,

The keyboard worded as expected in IE from the desktop. Since I made that post the keyboard has been functionally normally and as expected from the start screen. Only system changes I made between first post and this post is I installed the updated wifi driver, though it would seem that would have nothing to do with the keyboard problem. Will post again if the problem re-appears; thanks for the reply

Hi,

I just purchased a new Iconia W700, and I'm having the same issue. Also the W700 doesn't have an application called "Acer Recovery" How can I do a restore? Would anyone know the proper procedure for a complete factory restore step by step?

Hi Thanks for the fast reply. Do you know which of the 4 recovery dvds that you insert first?

Here's what came with my W700

1. System DVD

2. Recovery DVD 1 of 2

3. Recovery DVD 2 of 2

4. Recovery DVD English Language Pack Disc

I've tried the following:

1. Open the charm

2. Select change PC Settings

3. Select remove everything and reinstall windows

4. Insert the System DVD when asked (it does not say which one, so I would think it would be system, right?)

Then I receive this message

"The media inserted is not valid"

"Make sure to insert your Windows installation or recovery media"

I receive the same message if I insert Recovery DVD 1 of 2

What I'm I doing wrong?

Thanks
