Hello!

a friend recently gave me his Travelmate 2300 because the hard drive is dead. I would buy another hard drive. What are the exact specifications? I have done many Google searches but I have not found anything.

you need buy 2.5" ide/pata hd

however, they are very expensive now compare to sata hd

Not many options.

All are over $100 on Newegg. You need an IDE ATA/100.

Here's the link to three potential options: On Newegg. Honestly they are worth more than the computer you got. You could probably get about $50 for it if you sell it on ebay (even without a functional HDD).
