Question:

I'd like to upgrade my hard drive to 512GB

what should I prepare in advance?

How would I install windows after I install a new hard drive?

anything else that I should be aware of?

Hi..

Before you replace the hard drive, you may create the recovery media from this laptop which can be used to install windows on the new hard drive.

thank you for the prompt reply

the link is for windows 8 but i managed to work along the same line with my windows 7

unfortunately the backup failed with an error code: 0x79

and with the following error details:

The semaphore timeout period has expired.
File source: C:\OEM\Preload\OEM\Recovery\HPartition\D2D\IMAGES\WOP000990OX0EN1132.SWM File Dst: G:\IMAGES\WOP000990OX0EN1132.SWM

Please let me know what should I do?

then when I re-run the "create factory default backup" i get the same error code: 0x79 but with different details:
